Last year I edited the NSW Architecture Bulletin, Winter 2017, on Affordability. It was great to have the opportunity to engage with so many interesting and interested minds.
The magazine covered a spectrum of affordable (and "more affordable") housing projects. I used it as a platform to promote these other models of housing.
The projects included are not of market housing - the type delivered for investors through developers. The housing models I'm pushing for generally lie outside of the market and provide for more affordable and greater diversity in our future housing stock.
These housing types are desperately needed for us to have any chance of addressing rising inequality and to provide housing that celebrates our culturally diverse community.
